CAST & CREW
PRINCIPAL CAST in order of appearance.

'FIAMETTA'
Linda Jung

Linda is happy to be back for her fourth season with the Scarborough G&S Society.  For the first two years she sang as a member of the chorus.  Last year, she performed the role of ‘Leila’ in Iolanthe, and is pleased to have the opportunity of performing the role of ‘Fiametta’ in this production of The Gondoliers.  Her musical background includes formal studies in music theory and classical piano at the Royal Conservatory of Music (Toronto).

'VITTORIA'
Katrin Tremblay

This is Katrin’s first year with the Scarborough Gilbert & Sullivan Society and she is enjoying it very much.  She moved to Toronto two years ago from Quebec and started her musical training at the Royal Conservatory of Music, shortly afterward. She is now preparing herself for exams in grade 5 vocal in June, and hopes to get a degree in vocal music.

Katrin had previous theatrical experience in high school and played in a theatre festival in Switzerland with her class.  She plans to continue with us next year.

'ANTONIO'
Max Craddock

Max was born in Ohio where he attended public and high school.  He has his B.A. in Religious Education from Great Lakes Bible College in Beamsville, Ontario.  In high school he was active in music, both instrumental and vocal.  Besides the regular school band and choir, he was part of a Dixieland band that performed on the Today show in 1958.  Also, he sang high tenor in quartets throughout high school.

He and his wife, Cledith, came to Canada in 1961 and since that time, he has served as Evangelist with Churches of Christ in Hamilton, Port Colborne, Fenwick, Grimsby, Meaford and here in Toronto.  He also served on the staff of Great Lakes Christian College in Beamsville for 6 years.  While there he served as Director of the Chorus of the College.

While living in Meaford, he was the Director of a community Youth Chorus that was formed to perform during the town’s centennial year.  He directed this group for 6 years.  He sang high tenor for several years in a gospel quartet, 'The King’s Couriers' also while in Meaford.  Music, in church activities as well as community groups has always been an interest for him.

This is his fourth year as a member of the Scarborough Gilbert & Sullivan Society.  The first two years he served as the musical director and this is his second year on stage.  He considers it to be a very enjoyable and rewarding experience in doing something he loves and doing it with a delightful group of people.

'MARCO PALMIERI'
Lindsay Farrow

Lindsay is exceptionally happy to finally cross one of his favourite roles off his "to-do" list.  He has been looking forward to playing Marco for many years.

Lindsay has kept himself very busy over the last year performing excerpts from La Boheme, The Merry Widow and preparing for his upcoming role in Die Fledermaus as Frank the Prison Warden.

As always, Lindsay finds that he has many people to thank for their guidance and support but would like to make special mention of Stephanie, Angela and Vinnie for their vocal coaching, his family (a pleasure to work with once again), Debbie for all the silliness and, of course, his real-life leading lady Janice (his artistic inspiration).

'GIUSEPPE PALMIERI'
Clarke Pickett

Clarke has been a member since 1975 and has played many diverse roles such as both Nanki-Poo and Pooh-Bah in The Mikado, both Strephon and Mountararat, in Iolanthe, both Marco and Giuseppe in The Gondoliers (which he reprises this year) and two of his favourites, Dick Deadeye in H.M.S. Pinafore and Wilfred the Jailer in Yeomen of the Guard.  His singing has included variety, choral work, and Gilbert and Sullivan.  Clarke, a native Torontonian, has sung with the East York Collegiate Glee Club, the Lyric Operetta Society, the York Minstrels, St. Aidan's Choir and St. Aidan's Music Club.

'TESSA'
Susanne Farrow

Susanne is thrilled to join the Scarborough Gilbert & Sullivan Society again this year to play the part of Tessa.  This is her fifth year with the group, in the past having performed as Edith in  Pirates of Penzance, Pitti-Sing in The Mikado and the title role in Iolanthe.  Susanne is an accomplished clarinettist with an honours degree in Music Education from the University of Western Ontario and a bachelor of Education from the University of Toronto.  She has recently taken a leave from her job as a music teacher to fulfill a new job as mom to her 4- month old baby Kathryn.

'GIANETTA'
Debbie Harman

This merry maiden is delighted to be back with the Scarborough Gilbert & Sullivan Society this year as Gianetta, yet another highly intelligent role to add to her repertoire.  (She keeps wondering if there’s a hidden meaning in this somewhere).  Special thanks to Brian, Stan, Ruth and the entire cast.  Big hugs are also due to her family for all its support and to T. for everything.

'THE DUKE OF PLAZA-TORO'
Bill Harman

This is Bill’s third season with the wonderful Scarborough Gilbert & Sullivan Society.  He is honoured to be cast as the Duke of Plaza-Toro within a distinguished "ducal party". Perhaps the trappings of dukedom will rub off, and he may soon be "blazing in the luster of unaccustomed pocket money". Bill wishes to thank his coaches -- Ruth, Debbie, Brian, and Stan.

'THE DUCHESS' (April 20, 21, 22)
Heather Mackie

This is Heather’s second year with the Scarborough G&S Society.  Performing with this group has been a change of pace for Heather since her previous musical experience has been singing with a number of choirs.  She enjoyed seven years as a member of the Bach Children’s Chorus followed by three years with the Bach Chamber Youth Chorus.  The high point of her five years with the Scarborough Schools Youth Choir occurred one summer when the choir toured and sang in Germany and Austria.  When not singing Heather is a legal assistant with a law firm in downtown Toronto.

'THE DUCHESS' (April 27, 28, 29)
Sheila Gregory

This is Sheila's eighth year with The Scarborough Gilbert and Sullivan Society.  Previously she was a member of the Savoy Society at McGill University in Montreal.  She has appeared as Katisha in The Mikado, Celia in Iolanthe, Isabel in The Pirates of Penzance, and also in HMS Pinafore, The Gondoliers, Yeoman of the Guard, Trial by Jury (a bridesmaid)

Sheila is very pleased that her daughter, Alexandra is making a short appearance in this production.

'CASILDA' (DUKE & DUCHESS' DAUGHTER)
Marie Criscione

Marie, a soprano, is thrilled to be making her debut with the Scarborough Gilbert and Sullivan Society.

She received her Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance and Diploma in Opera from Wilfrid Laurier University where she studied with Victor Martens.  She performed numerous roles in WLU’s opera productions, including Appolonia in La Canterina, Miss Wordsworth in Albert Herring, Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro, and the title role in Stravinsky’s Le Rossignol.  Solo appearances in oratorio include Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Mozart’s Vespers, and Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem with the WLU Choir and Orchestra.  Selected professional engagements include Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis (under the direction of Noel Edison), Handel’s Messiah, Schnittke’s Requiem, Bach’s Mass in G major, Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem, Saint-Saens’ Christmas Oratorio, Faure’s Requiem, Whicher’s A Spotless Rose, Haydn’s Creation, Dubois’ The Seven Last Words of Christ, and the roles of Lucy in The Telephone, Gretel in Hansel and Gretel, and Alice in Alice in Wonderland.

In her spare time, Marie is a Law Clerk at Borden Ladner Gervais LLP in downtown Toronto.

'LUIZ' (their attendant)
Darrell Hicks

Darrell Hicks is currently attending Wexford C.I., and is 18 years old.  He has performed in such shows as West Side Story, Sweeney Todd, Die Fledermouse, and many more.  His most recent show was H.M.S. Pinafore, in which he played the role of "Ralph".  Darrell is very much enjoying his first show with the Scarborough Gilbert and Sullivan Society.  He would like to thank everyone in the show. "You guys Rock!"

'DON ALHAMBRA del Bolero'
Philip Stenning

Philip played Lord Tolloller in the Scarborough Gilbert and Sullivan Society’s production of Iolanthe last year, and in 1998 played the role of Robin Oakapple / Sir Ruthven Murgatroyd in the St. Pat’s Players’ production of  Ruddigore.

Many, many years before that, as a teenager, he starred as Frederic in a production of The Pirates of Penzance, in a girls’ school in England (an exciting new experience for a student in an all-boys school!). He received his original musical training as a chorister in the Westminster Abbey choir in London (which is not noted for its productions of G & S). He loves to play in G & S operettas as light relief from the rigours of his "day job" as a university professor. Of that, there is no manner of doubt, no probable, possible doubt whatever....!

'INEZ' (The King's Foster Mother) (April 20)
Sheila Gregory

This is Sheila's eighth year with The Scarborough Gilbert and Sullivan Society.  Previously she was a member of the Savoy Society at McGill University in Montreal.  She has appeared as Katisha in The Mikado, Celia in Iolanthe, Isabel in The Pirates of Penzance, and also in HMS Pinafore, The Gondoliers, Yeoman of the Guard, Trial by Jury (a bridesmaid)

Sheila is very pleased that her daughter, Alexandra is making a short appearance in this production.

'INEZ' (The King's Foster Mother) (April 21, 22, 27, 28, 29)
